The revolutionary kinetic sculptures created by the american artist Alexander Calder (1898-1976) – formed by colorful metal plaques balanced in thin wires that keep them suspended and in movement – served as inspiration for Móbile. Calder’s mobiles are built to make infinite shape variations and keep in themselves a kind of potential energy because they’re always waiting for a movement to transform them. This particularity of the “inside out sculptures”, as Ferreira Gullar named them, speaks directly with the conceptions of Móbile.

The creative arts of Calder, dense in meaning, only balance and harmonize themselves because there are precise notions of physics behind them. We’re convinced that education needs to, necessarily, involve art and science.

Science has its fundamentals in solid built knowledge such as, in the case of learning theories, the knowledge of the process of development of the children and teenagers and innovative methodologies of teaching-learning.

Art, because educating meaning infinitely more than repeating expertise. Educating is creating new bonds every moment, new possibilities of interactions between human beings; it’s searching for possible harmony in a universe in continuous transformation.

Our educational practices educate the students to admire their differences, not tolerate one another. They understand the differences as counterpoints that make the world more interesting and rich.
