The memories presented in symbolic representations and the cultural influence of African foundation in the contemporary society. The African literature also occupies an important place in this project because it brings a series of representations and socio-historical contexts representative of the black culture, allowing a more complex analysis of the text and the construction of new references. It’s also through literary texts that the students contrast the African heritance in Brazil with the ones present in the USA in the English classes, analyzing the resistance movements and the appreciation of the black culture in these contexts. Apart from proposing a broadening of the cultural library, the Afro-Atlantic Trajectories project expands the contact of our students with positive references of the African population presented in the different areas of knowledge, proposes a break in paradigms, stimulates the creativity and develops skills and knowledge important for the development of ethical and global citizens.
