The Help Teams were created from the practical perception of everyday school life that the students tend to search their classmates and friends to share situations that bothered them or cause any kind of worry. So that there’s healthy and empathetic intervention in these situations, the Help Teams go through an initial formation and participate in weekly follow-up meetings with school staff. All students from the bilingual program can participate from the 6th grade and have to, mandatorily, give space to the participation of other classmates when they start High School.
The main aim of this project is to offer the necessary space for the students to be the main characters in these interventions in the coexisting matters. The participants of the teams are chosen by their pairs through trusting criteria. “Values like respect, empathy, moral and solidarity are pillars of the Help Team. The students also do other activities like meetings to exchange experience with other teams, production of project materials, surveys, research and communication with other Middle school students.”
